Effects of auxin and nutrient solution concentration on rooting of Jasminum sambac cutting under hydroponics

  • ObjectiveThe Effects of type and concentration of auxin and nutrient solution on Jasminum sambac branches rooting were explored for large-scale hydroponic Jasminum sambac production. MethodCuttings of Jas-minum sambac were soaked in three concentrations of auxin (IAA,IBA and NAA) and water (no auxin),followed by cultured in three concentrations of nutrient solution(1/4,1/2 and 0) to explore the effects of auxin and nutrient solution on cutting. ResultRooting rate was 100% and total root length and root surface area were the largest with 250.0 mg/L NAA, significantly higher than those in other treatments (P<0.05,the same below). Rooting rate and average root di-ameter were greater in 350.0 mg/L IBA than in IAA. Rooting rate of Jasminum sambac cutting in a combination of 250.0 mg/L and 350.0 mg/L NAA with 1/4 nutrient solution was 100.00% and 80.00%, respectively. Conclusion250.0 mg/L NAA combined with nutrient solution of high concentration is most favorable for rooting, and 350.0 mg/L NAA combined with nutrient solution of low concentration is most suitable for root growth.
