Scale comparative advantage and spatial characteristics of rice industry in Guangxi

  • ObjectiveThe present study was conducted to study the rice comparative advantage index and its spatial characteristics in each region of Guangxi, and provide reference for rice production and industrial planning. MethodTaking 14 prefecture-level cities of Guangxi as research units, researchers used scale comparative advantage index model to mea-sure rice scale comparative advantage index and then used exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) to analyze the spatial pattern characteristics. ResultOverall, Guangxi average rice scale comparative advantage index showed a downward trend in fluctuation. In terms of spatial distribution, Guangxi rice scale comparative index decreased from southeast to northwest, and presented high-high aggregation and low-low aggregation. SuggestionFollowing suggestions are proposed:strengthe-ning government macro guidance; utilizing regional agricultural development comparative advantages; developing rice leading industry in southeast of Guangxi and improving space spillover benefits; promoting complementarity of resources and accelerating industrial spatial agglomeration; developing characteristic agricultural products brand and increasing efficiency of industrial division.
