Variation of seed oil content and protein content of recombinant inbred lines of Brassica juncea and their correlation analysis

  • ObjectiveSee d oil and protein content of recombinant inbred lines(RIL) of Brassica juncea were measured, their correlation was analyzed, and excellent germplasm materials were screened in order to provide research basis and ma-terials for B. juncea breeding. MethodSeed oil content and protein content of 139 RIL samples were measured by near in-frared spectrometer method, and their correlation was analyzed. ResultIn the environment of Guiyang, the oil content and protein content of these materials showed great variation, variation range of oil content was 33.1%-47.7% and that of pro-tein content was 22.0%-33.3%. The materials could be divided into three groups. In GroupⅠ, average oil content was 33.7%and coefficient of variation 2.3%, average protein content was 32.8%and coefficient of variation 0.7%. In GroupⅡ, average oil content was 41.2%and coefficient of variation 5.3%, average protein content was 26.2%and coefficient of vari-ation 6.6%. In Group Ⅲ, average oil content was 45.9% and coefficient of variation 2.7%, average protein content was 23.6%and coefficient of variation 4.8%. Oil content and protein content showed significantly negative correlation(P<0.01).ConclusionSeed oil content and protein content of B. juncea RIL show great variation and significant negative correlation. Three excellent B. juncea germplasms are detected: RIL020 with high oil content, RIL038 with high protein content and RIL078 with high sum(oil+protein) content. The three materials can be used for genetic breeding and fundamental research of B.juncea.
