Purifying effect of different ecological floating beds on landscape water quality

  • ObjectiveThe purifying effects of different ecological floating beds on landscape water quality in subtropi-cal area were investigated, in order to provide reference for using ecological floating bed to improve landscape water quali-ty in south China.MethodThe abilities of different ecological floating beds to remove chemical oxygen demand(COD), total phosphorus(TP), total nitrogen(TN), ammonia nitrogen(NH4+-N) in landscape water were compared and analyzed. Meanwhile, the growth status of floating hydrophyte was compared and analyzed. ResultThe results showed that, Can-na generalis, Iris tectorum and Arundo donax had good adaptability to water with high concentrations of organic matter , N and P, and had good abilities to remove COD, TP, TN, NH4+-N in water. The abilities of C. generalis+combined packing floating bed, C. generalis floating bed, combined packing floating bed to remove COD, TP, TN, NH4+-N in water were 33.75-48.98, 0.23-0.93, 3.71-10.26 and 4.12-8.44 mg/m2, respectively, with extremely significant difference(P<0.01). Three ecological floating beds were ordered based on their removal ability , as follows: C. generalis+combined packing floating bed>C. generalis floating bed>combined packing floating bed. ConclusionC. generalis+combined packing floating bed has the best removal effect on COD, TP, TN and NH4+-N in water among three ecological floating beds, which is the first choice to restore ecological water environment in south China.
