Spatial-temporal difference and influencing factors of agricultural total factor productivity in Guangxi

  • 【Objective】In order to provide a scientific decision-making reference for achieving agriculture technological innovation and building a strong agricultural area, agricultural total factor productivity(TFP)was accurately measured and and its spatial-temporal differences and influence factors were discussed in Guangxi.【Method】The DEA-Malmquist index method was used to measure agricultural total factor productivity in Guangxi from 2005 to 2021,which was decomposed into technical efficiency and technological progress, and its spatial-temporal changes were analyzed. The panel data regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of agricultural total factor productivity in Guangxi, and the robustness test was carried out.【Result】From the perspective of time trend, the agricultural total factor productivity of Guangxi had grown steadily, especially since“the 13th Five-Year Plan”,the growth rate had accelerated greatly, and the growth of agricultural total factor productivity of Guangxi had formed a“dual drive”model of technological progress and technical efficiency. From the perspective of spatial distribution, there was a great difference in the growth of agricultural total factor productivity among 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi. Among the 14 cities,11 cities had achieved an increase in agricultural total factor productivity, with Nanning had the largest increase and Hezhou had the least increase. From the perspective of influencing factors, the main factors affecting the growth of agricultural total factor productivity in Guangxi were rural human capital, agricultural production scale, agricultural mechanization level and financial support level. In contrast, the average growth rate of agricultural total factor productivity in Guangxi lagged behind Guangdong by 2.3% and Yunnan by 0.9%.【Suggestion】It is suggested that Guangxi should take the market demand as the guide to promote the progress of agricultural technology. To improve the efficiency of agricultural technology based on production demand;take coordinated development as the guidance, rationally distribute innovation resources;with priority development as the orientation, strengthen measures to support agriculture and strengthen agriculture,so as to accelerate the improvement of agricultural total factor productivity and help the strong agricultural area building.
