Effects of temperature on the growth, development and reproduction of Noorda blitealis Walker

  • 【Objective】The effects of temperature on the growth, development and reproduction of Noorda blitealis were studied to provide the basis for the prediction and comprehensive control of N. blitealis.【Method】Under the conditions of a photoperiod of 14 L∶10 D,and a relative humidity of 80%,five temperatures of 24,26,28,30 and 32 ℃ were set to determine the hatching rate of N. blitealis eggs at different temperatures. The mortality and developmental duration of larvae and pupae;after the emergence of adults, the effects of different temperatures on adult life and egg production were measured, and the developmental starting temperature and effective accumulated temperature, and fertility life table reference number of each insect state were calculated.【Result】With increases in temperature between 24-32 ℃, except for the 1st,2nd and 3rd instar larvae, the mortality of other larvae and pupae of N. blitealis decreased first and then increased, and the cumulative mortality was the highest at 24 ℃. Over the same temperature range, the developmental period of each worm state and adult lifespan were gradually shortened. It only took 14.58 d to develop from egg to adult at 32 ℃,and 28.75 d at 24 ℃. The number of eggs laid by a single female was the highest at 30 ℃(412.85),The lowest at 32 ℃(27.33). The developmental starting temperature of egg stage, larval stage and pupal stage were 16.75,16.95, 16.33 ℃,and the effective accumulated temperature were 27.83,131.00 and 94.16 d·℃,respectively. In 24-30 ℃,the weekly growth rate was greater than 1,and the population grew geometrically.【Conclusion】Temperature has obvious effect on the growth and reproduction of N. blitealis. 28-30 ℃ is the most suitable temperature zone for the growth and reproduction of N. blitealis. According to the average temperature and development period of N. blitealis furnacalis, the prediction and forecast of N. blitealis can be carried out to provide a basis for the comprehensive control of N. blitealis.
