Biological characteristics and controlling pest effects of Vespinae insect: A review

  • The research progresses were summarized in this thesis on biological characteristics of Vespinae insect such as the division of labor, flight rhythm, predation, nesting, mating, division of reproduction, overwintering habit, natural enemies and microbe diseases. And the controlling pest effect of the Vespinae insect in agriculture and forestry was also reviewed in this thesis,on the basis of present research status and the application in production practice, some sugges-tions were proposed:it is necessary to pay attention to the balanced study of the biological characteristics of the Vespinae insects in various species and genera,at the same time, information should be shared with international institutes, and do-mestic theories and methods in the field should be updated in time;the application of wasp to pest controlling in agricul-ture and forestry should be based on the biological characteristics of wasp and other scientific theories;the cultivation and management technology of wasps should be strengthened and updated;the existing technology defects should be im-proved. Furthermore,in the practical application, the planting patterns of different crops in fields and forest areas should be reasonably arranged;and the reasonable control and the evaluation on the controlling pest effect of wasp population should be strengthened,in order to promote the application of wasp biological control in the production practice and pro-vide strong technical support for the development of new agricultural ecological environment.
