Abstract
ObjectiveEffects of 2-butanol on postharvest quality of longan fruits, browning and senescence inhibi-tion were studied to provide reference for maintaining postharvest fruit quality and prolong preservation life.MethodLongan fruits(cv."Shixia")were used as materials.Effects of 0.05% 2-butanol treatment on fruit weight loss rate,peri-carp moisture loss rate, browning index, pulp breakdown index, total soluble solids content, titratable acid content,respi-ration intensity and ethylene production of longan fruits were analyzed during storage at 4℃.ResultThe results showed that 0.05% 2-butanol inhibited fresh weight loss and pericarp moisture loss, and from day 5 of storage,2-butanol delayed pericarp browning and pulp breakdown. From day 15,2-butanol significantly(P<0.05)inhibited the decomposition of to-tal soluble solid and the production of titratable acid.In addition,2-butanol delayed the respiration and ethylene produc-tion of longan fruits.Conclusion2-butanol with proper concentration can be helpful to quality maintenance of posthar-vest longan fruits, and postpone fruit senescence and browning.
