Growth and develoment regulation of winter-planting potato

  • ObjectiveGrowth and development regulation of winter-planting potato was studied in order to provide theoretical guidance for improving yield and quality of winter-planting potato and promote the development of potato in-dustry. MethodMajor potato variety Favorite and new variety bred in Guangxi Guinongshu 1 were used as study materials. The dynamic changes of six key growth indexes were observed, including plant height,stem diameter,leaf dry weight,stem dry weight, tuber number and tuber dry weight. ResultThe potato growth indexes showed regular changes in the two winter-planting varieties. The four important indexes, namely plant height, stem diameter,tuber number,and tuber dry weight showed a three-period S pattern variation, and leaf dry weight and stem dry weight presented a U shape variation. Organs above the ground(leaf and stem) and the ones underground(tuber) were extremely significantly(P<0.01) correlated or significantly(P<0.05) correlated . ConclusionThe growth stage of winter-planting potato can be divided into five stages,namely seedling stage,budding stage,tuber formation stage,tuber expansion stage,and tuber maturation stage. In actual cultivation, management can be arranged based on the features of different growth stages, to coordinate the relation-ship between organs above ground and organs underground,and increase yield and benefits.
