Effects of Na+, K+, glucose and glycerinon on sperm motility of Leuciscus idus

  • ObjectiveThe relationship between water medium parameters and sperm motility of Leuciscus idus was studied to solve the technical problems of low fertility rate and and low production efficiency of fry in L. idus artificial breeding. MethodWith fast moving time(FT), life time(LT) and sperm activation rate as evaluation indexes, the effects of Na+, K+, glucose and glycerinon on sperm motility of L. idus were studied. ResultWhen the concentration of Na+was 135 mmol/L, the sperm motility of L. idus was the strongest, with FT being 71 s, LT 1020 s, and sperm activation rate 95%. When the concentration of K+ was 5 mmol/L, the sperm motility of L. idus was the strongest, with FT being 52 s, LT 280 s , and sperm activation rate 80%. When the concentration of glucose was 180 mmol/L, the sperm motility of L. idus was the strongest, with FT being 78 s, LT 1200 s, and sperm activation rate 95%. When the concentration of glycerinon was 180 mmol/L, the sperm motility of L. idus was the strongest, with FT being 79 s, LT 1380 s, and sperm activation rate 90%. ConclusionAppropriate concentrations of Na+,K+,glucose and glycerol alone can increase L. idus sperm motility. But high concentrations of Na+, K+, glucose and glycerol inhibit sperm activation rate. In actual cultivation, 135 mmol/L Na+, and 5 mmol/L K+, 180 mmol/L glucose or 180 mmol/L glycerol can be chosen as sperm activation medium for L. idus to im-prove the efficiency of artificial breeding.
