Preliminary trial report on cutting propagation of Hedera helix

  • ObjectiveEffects of different exogenous hormones, processing concentrations, and time on rooting of Hedera helix and survival were studied to provide references for rapid propagation and large-area application of Hedera helix.MethodThe strong and disease-free Hedera helix branches at 0,1,2 years old were used as materials. An orthogonal test with four factors and three levels was conducted to study the effects of different exogenous hormone (IBA, NAA and ABT1) concentrations , cutting types and processing time on Hedera helix. ResultThe results showed that cutting survival rate , rooting number, root fresh weight and average root length of Hedera helix were all significantly impacted by auxin type, aux-in concentration, processing time and cutting kind, which S7 (ABT1 100 mg/L, soaking one-year-old Hedera helix cutting for 12 h) was the best treatment with its cutting survival rate of 95.53%. S7 was significantly different from other treatments. (P<0.05). The influence order on cutting survival rate was cutting kind, auxin type, auxin concentration and processing time.ConclusionThe cutting kind was the most important factor for survival rate of cuttings. One-year-old cuttings produced the best cutting effects. One-year-old Hedera helix cutting soaked with 100 mg/L ABT1 for 12 hours was the best for rooting and survival.
