Status quo of agricultural development in Burundi

  • Bunmdi is one amongst the smallest countries of Africa and is landlocked with tropical climatic conditions.It comes under ten poorest countries in the world.Burundi's agricultural sector benefits from its mild climate due to hish elevation of the hand and regular rainfall.However,deforestation and poor farming methods have caused extensive soil erosion and depletion.People in Burundi are facing severe shortages in food supplies.The present paper summarizes the current conditions of water,land and labour resources,and the agricultural production in the country.The constraints to agncultural development in the country have also been discussed.Further,it was suggested that the international aids should be given to the country in order to promote the development of agriculture.
