Abstract:
ObjectiveNew rice materials with resistance to white-backed planthopper (WBPH) were selected from Guangxi common wild rice materials, in order to provide basic materials for resistant varieties breeding and genetic im-provement of cultivated rice. MethodA total of 218 common wild rice materials were identified at adult-plant stage for preliminary screening with Ptb33 as resistant control and 9311 as susceptible control , so some WBPH-resistant lines were selected from them. And seedling bulk test was used to identify resistance of selected WBPH-resistant lines. Finally , some lines with high resistance to WBPH were re-identified by seedling bulk test , so as to verify reliability of test results.ResultSixty WBPH-resistant rice materials was selected from 218 common wild rice species through identification at adult stage, which accounted for 27.5%of total materials, and twenty-two of which was identified as WBPH-resistant ma-terials in seedling bulk test. However, only one material was highly WBPH-resistant, accounting for 1.7% of identified materials, and twenty-one materials were moderately WBPH-resistant, accounting for 35.0%. Furthermore, the repetitive identification results showed that, among twenty-two materials, nine rice materials had high average resistance, this result was consistent with result of earlier identification. ConclusionThrough resistance screening, twenty-two materials with moderate or high WBPH-resistance are selected from 218 common wild rice materials , which can be used for resistant varieties breeding and genetic improvement of cultivated rice.
