Abstract:
ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of coconut haustorium inclusion du-ring the germination of coconut,and provide reference for improving the germination rate of coconut and sustainable development of coconut industry.MethodFresh mature local high-seedling coconut and red coconut were used as mate-rials.Coconut weight,vertical and horizontal diameters,coconut water content,pulp thickness,haustorium weight,verti-cal and horizontal diameters of haustorium were measured during the development.SOD activity,POD activity,soluble protein content and polyphenol content of local high-seedling coconut were detected by ultraviolet spectrophotometer during germination of haustorium.ResultThe liquid endosperm in coconut gradually reduced with the increase of the volume and weight of the coconut haustorium until it was completely absorbed. Then white hard coconut pulp was gradually softened and brownened. The content of polyphenol and soluble protein decreased gradually,SOD and POD activities increased first and then decreased. The correlation among inclusion was close. There was significant negative correlation between polyphenol content and SOD activity(P<0.05,the same below),and there was extremely significant positive correlation between polyphenol content and soluble protein content(P<0.01).There was significant negative cor-relation between POD activity and soluble protein content,and significant positive correlation between POD activity and SOD activity.ConclusionFresh mature coconut haustorium contains high SOD and POD activities,polyphenol content and soluble protein content during the development.Using coconut haustorium as reproduction material can achieve sound culturing effects.
