Abstract:
ObjectiveThe correlation between body weight and body measurement during early development of San-huang chicken Yuehuang 882 was analyzed to provide scientific basis for the later dynamic research of its growth and deve-lopment and formulating growth plan. MethodIn this experiment, the weight growth curve of 0-9 weeks old Sanhuang chicken Yuehuang 882 was fitted by Logistic model and Gompertz model. Correlation analysis and habitus index calcula-tion for body weight and mian body measurement indicators(shank length, body slanting length, sternum length, chest depth and chest width) of 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks old chichen were conducted by SPSS 10.0. ResultThe weight and body measurement indicators of the chicken increased with the growing of age. Shank length, body slanting length and sternum length was in full-stage growth trend. Chest width and chest depth was in stage growth trend, moreover, the growth rate of 4-6 weeks old chicken was high. Body weight was positively correlated with the five main body measurement indicators (shank length, body slanting length, sternum length, chest depth and chest width), and the correlation coefficients were all extremely significant(P<0.01). Both Gompertz model and Logistic model fit well to the growth curve of the chicken, and the fitting degree(R2) was above 0.9980. Taking indicators like limit weight, body weight at inflection point and weight into consideration, the fitting effect of Gompertz model was slightly better than that of Logistic model. The male in-flection point of growth curve was(8.15, 1273.78) fitted by Gompertz curve equation, female inflection point of growth curve was(4.08, 419.25). ConclusionThe growth curve inflection point for male Sanhuang chicken Yuehuang 882 is 8.15 weeks and female 4.08 weeks. The growth of male is slower than female. Since the growth speeds are different, the nutrition required by male and female at early development and growth are not the same. Therefore, before 4 weeks old, it is better to culture male and female seperately, which can improve the egg laying performance.
